Overview

Every photo your phone takes ships with a hidden manifest: GPS latitude and longitude, the exact second the shutter opened, the device serial number, the lens model, the software that edited it. That manifest is useful for photographers and forensic analysts. It is a privacy disaster for anyone publishing photos of their home, their kids, or their workplace.

This tool removes every EXIF, XMP, and IPTC block in a single pass without touching the pixel data. Your JPEG stays at its original quality setting; your PNG keeps its original compression. The only thing that changes is the byte count, usually by a few hundred bytes for web photos, several kilobytes for camera RAW exports.

In modern browsers the whole operation runs locally, so the image never leaves your device and no account ties the file to your identity. A server fallback exists for older browsers without local-processing support; on that path the upload is deleted the moment the result is sent back. Either way, nothing is saved or indexed, and the Privacy page lists every byte that ever touches a disk.

Workflow

How it works

Three steps, usually done inside five seconds.

  1. 1

    Upload an image

Drop a JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF up to 25 MB. No sign-up, no credit card.

  2. 2

    We remove all metadata

We drop every EXIF, XMP, and IPTC block, and write the pixels back. No re-encoding, no quality change.

  3. 3

    Download your scrubbed image

On modern browsers the scrubbed file is generated on your own device, so nothing is uploaded. On the rare server fallback, the file is deleted the moment it is sent back.

Hybrid processing

Metadata stripping runs in your browser by default, so your image never leaves your device on that path. For the small share of browsers without local-processing support we fall back to a server round-trip, where the upload is only held while we process it and is deleted the moment the result is sent back. Nothing is saved, indexed, or trained on.
